The West Tisbury Library received a Federal grant in 2008 through the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners with funds from LSTA (Library Services and Technology Act), a Federal source of library funding provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services. This Equal Access grant was intended to provide all residents and visitors to West Tisbury with an increased knowledge of information for enriched leisure, effective living and opportunities for continued growth throughout their lifespan. |
Through the training and funding from this grant and the generous support of our Friends, we were able to create a Health & Wellness area within the library. We have purchased many new Medical Reference and Health and Wellness books. We have integrated all of the materials the library owns into this collection by moving hundreds of titles and updating outdated materials. |
| |
Our staff has been trained on medical databases and medical reference interviews and can show our patrons print and electronic materials to answer questions in this area.
Please feel free to come by or ask us about this new reference center. |
